Practicum: Voice Over Lab

with Karen Huie

Registration unavailable

Your voice represents you. It can say you’re intrigued, volatile, surprised, wary, weary or worried. Maybe you’re sitting on a voice of authority rife for documentaries, have six different kid voices, a Mom and an evil queen, or a guy who can spin a great yarn for audiobooks?  This practicum is six weeks of reading copy with feedback. Each week, we will focus on one genre: Commercial, Animation, Audiobook, Videogame, Promo and Narration. What does each require? How to accomplish it? Expand your range? We’ll break down copy, research and read. Bring in character voices you want to develop for or add to your reel. Learn by watching and listening to others as they get feedback and make adjustments. We can’t always hear what we’re doing. It’s sometimes more effective to learn when you’re not on mic. If you haven’t already done so, taking the Voice of Your Own Sound will give you a more thorough understanding of each genre. Like learning any instrument, application is key. Come practice, play, grow and be prepared to have lots of fun!

Level: All levels.

Prerequisites: It is recommended that you have taken the Voice of Your Own Sound.

Corequisites: It is recommended that you take Tuning Your Instrument along with this class.

Scholarships are limited and based on availability. For more information, please email
