COURSE DESCRIPTION
Take your play from idea to first draft! In this eight-week playwriting workshop, playwrights will write and develop a new play in a supportive and creative environment. Designed for playwrights with an existing idea, this class focuses on process, accountability, and sharpening your work through weekly generation of new pages and dramaturgical discussion.
Each session offers playwrights the opportunity to hear pages read aloud, receive immediate and constructive feedback, and engage in conversation about structure, character, scene work, and storytelling. By the end of the eight weeks, writers will move from idea to first draft while building a sustainable writing practice within a community of fellow playwrights.
This class is ideal for playwrights who already have a play idea and are looking for artistic support and a space to generate material towards a first draft.
